The last rites of Junior Warrant Officer Manjunath G S of the Indian Air Force, who tragically lost his life when his parachute failed to deploy, were conducted with full military honours in his village, Sankuru, in Hosanagara taluk on Sunday.

His mortal remains arrived in Shivamogga city early in the morning, where MP B Y Raghavendra and MLA S N Channabasappa paid their respects. His body was then transported to Hosanagara in a military vehicle, arriving at 11:30 am.

A massive procession followed the vehicle, with thousands of people, including schoolchildren, lining the streets of Kodachadri College and showering flowers in tribute. Local leaders, including MLA Beluru Gopalakrishna, tahsildar Rashmi Halesh, and Congress leader Kalagodu Ratnakar, also paid their respects on behalf of the government.

After a final viewing at his residence, Manjunath’s body was handed over to his family. His cremation took place according to Ediga community tradition at his family land in the village. The entire village mourned the loss of the fallen soldier, who was deeply respected for his service to the nation.
