In an effort to curb nighttime accidents, Shivamogga Superintendent of Police (SP) GK Mithun Kumar initiated a campaign to install reflective stickers on goods carriers, auto-rickshaws, and tractors. The initiative addresses the increasing number of crashes in the district, many of which stem from poor vehicle visibility after dark.
On the first day of the drive, officers affixed reflective stickers to 719 vehicles across multiple subdivisions—139 in Shivamogga-B, 243 in Bhadravati, 149 in Sagar, 166 in Shikaripura, and 22 in Thirthahalli. The campaign will persist, aiming to enhance awareness and ensure road safety.
Besides improving visibility, authorities also cracked down on excessively loud and piercing vehicle horns. Additionally, they conducted awareness programs to educate motorists about traffic regulations. The police emphasize that heightened visibility can prevent collisions and ultimately save lives.
SP Mithun Kumar underscored the mission’s significance, stating that even a single life saved is a testament to the department’s commitment. He reiterated that this ongoing initiative seeks to instill responsible driving habits and strengthen public cooperation. By working hand in hand, both law enforcement and citizens can contribute to safer roads for all.
