Mangaluru is fast emerging as the ‘Silicon Beach of India,’ and the upcoming TechWaves 2025 is set to spotlight this transformation. Organised by Vertex Workspace at Vertex Five this Friday, the event will bring together key players from the regional IT sector to explore forward-looking technologies and smart work environments.
Gurudutta Shenoy, managing partner at Vertex Managed Workspace, stated that the city’s digital evolution is gaining pace, though awareness among the public and policymakers remains limited. Mangaluru is currently home to nearly 20,000 tech-based jobs, with a vision to scale this number to 2 lakh by 2033.
Karnataka’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is projected to touch ₹28.8 lakh crore, with Mangaluru contributing around 5.5%, making it the second-highest contributor after Bengaluru. Shenoy noted the city’s IT sector generates over ₹3,000 crore annually and aims to boost its share in Karnataka’s IT/BPO exports from 1.5% to 5%.
The region hosts approximately 15 incubation centres that nurture over 125 startups. The event aims to foster dialogue between local IT professionals and policymakers, helping bridge gaps in understanding and collaboration.
Panels will cover deep tech, global capability centres, and digital inclusion. Leaders like MLA Sharath Kumar Bache Gowda, MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, and Speaker UT Khader will participate. The event also focuses on enhancing cross-industry synergies and drawing international investments.
