Sisters Turn Banana Products into Thriving Business in Karnataka
Ganga, Shaila, and Medha Hegade, from Shivamogga’s Hosahalli village, have made headlines for their thriving banana-based business, Shree Ram Enterprises. During the COVID-19 lockdown, the sisters started with Rs 1,000, selling bananas that initially remained unsold. Seeking guidance from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, they pivoted to producing banana flour, which quickly gained popularity.
Their product line now includes banana sambar powder, chakkuli mix, and nippattu powder, among others. Their banana baji powder has become a crowd favorite, with products available in Shirsi, Mangaluru, and Bengaluru.
Running operations from home, the sisters prioritize cleanliness and handle everything, from production to packaging, without external help. They ensure their products are not only hygienic but also come in attractive packaging, drawing customer attention.
A unique addition to their items is Brahmi Malt, a health-focused ingredient they highlight in their product descriptions. They also provide tips on storing their products for optimal freshness.
