
Six life-term Prisoners Released in Kalaburagi for Good Conduct
Kalaburagi: In a move recognizing good behavior and rehabilitation, six life-term prisoners, including five men and one woman, have been released from Kalaburagi Central Jail after serving 14 years of their sentences. This release followed a Government Order dated November 20, 2024, along with a directive from the Director General of Police, Prisons and Correctional Services.
The Standing Advisory Board at the prison reviewed the prisoners’ conduct and recommended their release, a decision that was later approved by the Karnataka government and forwarded to the Principal Office in Bengaluru.
The release was officially conducted by the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Kalaburagi, along with the Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, the Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Northern Zone in Belagavi, and the Chief Superintendent of Prisons. The officials also presented the inmates with release certificates and provided guidance to aid their reintegration into society.
The six prisoners released are Sabanna (Prisoner No. 19574), Khajasab (Prisoner No. 19212), Shivashankar alias Shivappa (Prisoner No. 19488), Ravi (Prisoner No. 540), Jaibharat (Prisoner No. 19336), and Abida Begum (Prisoner No. 252).
The release is seen as a step toward encouraging good conduct and rehabilitation, as well as supporting their return to society.
