Bengaluru: Congress is all set to launch the Mekedatu padayatra from January 9 to pressurise the State Government to take up the irrigation project at the earliest. Well-known Kannada Music Director, and Song Composer Hamsalekha will pen two songs for the Mekedatu padayatra.
Earlier Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D. K. Shivakumar had invited the Sandalwood stars to join the padayatra. Congress is optimistic that it can consolidate the Vokkaliga votes through this padayatra to return to power in the 2023 State Assembly election.
The padayatra will start from Mekedatu project area in Ramanagar District, home turf of DKS.
