Chamarajanagara: The Kannada matinee idol late Dr. Raj Kumar’s family members took up work to fulfil late actor Puneeth Raj Kumar’s dream.
Dr. Raj Kumar was most popular actor in Sandalwood from 1960 to 2000, and was born in the year 1929 in Gajanuru near Talavadi in Tamilnadu. This place shares border with Chamarajanagara. The house where Dr. Raj Kumar was born is in a dilapidated state now as it was constructed 250 years ago.
During August 2021, Puneeth Raj Kumar who had visited the house, had decided to renovate the house but rains did not give an opportunity to take up the works immediately. Unfortunately, the actor died a month back.
Now Puneet Raj Kumar’s uncle Gopal has taken up the renovation works of the house and decided to convert it to a museum in memory of Dr. Raj kumar and Puneet Raj Kumar.
Speaking to News Karnataka on Saturday December 11, Gopal, son of Raj Kumar’s sister Nagamma said that Puneeth had planned to renovate the house. The house was damaged more after visit of Puneeth owing to heavy rains. Now, If we do not take up repairs, it would collapse anytime, he noted and added that he is planning to keep the items used by Dr. Raj Kumar and Puneeth along with rare photographs.
The museum would have the favourite things, articles of both and that the tourists, and fans will be allowed to visit the museum.
He added Shivaraj Kumar and Raghavendra Raj Kumar would visit the house soon after the renovation and will take a decision in this regard.
