Sandalwood director Guruprasad of “Mata” movie fame has invited criticism just before the release of his next movie “Ranganayaka”. A teaser of the film had been released a few days ago.
The film’s teaser evoked criticism from admirers of the folk art ‘Yakshagana’.
The teaser begins with Badagatittu Yakshagana background music, in which Sandalwood actor “Navarasa Nayaka” Jaggesh is seen accepting the “Lotus” (BJP) and sidelining the “Hand” (Congress).
Throughout the teaser, the filmmakers have used Yakshagana music as the background song.
The cast of the movie have also used English words in “Yakshagana Bhagavatige”, which has drawn flak with some commenting that it was an insult to the folk art while insisting that the art was being misused for the purpose of business.
Ranganayaka’s story, screenplay, dialogues, lyrics, and direction is done by Guruprasad and produced by A R Vikhtyath. It is expected to release in 2020.
