On the auspicious occasion of Onam, which is a popular Kerala festival, it was revealed that Shivarajkumar will be officially starring in Kannada remake of Malayalam blockbuster “Oppam”. Shivarajkumar, who has stayed away from remakes for more than a decade changed his decision to act in remake.
Shivarajkumar will play a visually-impaired person, reprising the role of Mohanlal in the Kannada remake of Malayalam movie “Oppam”. The film that released in 2016 is a crime thriller and is based on a story by Govind Vijayan. Mohanlal played a visually impaired liftman who is accused of a murder. He then sets out to prove his innocence, all the while protecting a child under his care.
The makers plan to go on floors from October and interestingly will have a new talent at the helm. Ram Gopal Varma’s assistant GVR Vasu will be marking his directorial debut with this Kannada remake. Malayalam child artiste Baby Meenakshi will reprise her role for the Kannada version too.
Meanwhile Shivarajkumar’s “Tagaru” is almost done and the film may release in October.
