Children who live with an addicted parent grow up in an unpredictable environment filled with secrecy and role reversal. They receive inconsistent physical and emotional support. Children in these environments experience affected social development, self-confidence, poor health, and more. There is a much higher possibility of abuse or violence against these children.

Children might make two choices when they grow up. Either they aviod becoming like a addictive parent and try to become a good adult, or choose the same path as similar to m their parent, just to draw attention /take revenge.

Society’s perception

Children of these parents recieve a different treatment from society. Their playmates, neighbours might humiliate or Shane them for being odd. As a result the changes in the behaviour of the child is seen. They become aggressive, and shoe anti-social behaviors. Sometimes children become aloof or avoid certain situations so that they don’t have to deal with the society. This also affects on forming relationship.
