Become teacher as there’s someone is interested to learn: AV D’Sa

Dubai: The 26th episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s Namaste Teacher was held on Saturday June 11 at 6.30 pm IST.

The guest teacher for the evening was Dr. Alwyn V. D’Sa. The special guests of the evening were his students from St. Aloysius College, Manish N. Bhat, Prathap L, Ananya K, Samuel Peters, and Anusha J.

The event host was Kiran Nirkan.

Through teacher-student interaction, the series strives to highlight teachers and their impact on students. The programme was premiered on NewsKarnataka.com’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

In the beginning of the programme Kiran Nirkan introduced the guests and welcomed them.

Dr. Alwyn V. D’Sa sharing his career journey and quoted, “A teacher should not only know his subject but also his students. The ideal image of teachers was inculcated by my teacher and parents and thus I developed interest in teaching career. One should become teacher because there is someone who is interested in learning not because an individual is interested to teach,” he said.

Student Prathap L stated, “The logo of our college ‘Shine to enkindle’ best suits to our sir. In spite of sir being an experienced teacher, the spirit within sir is like any other new teachers, he expressed.

Samuel Peters said, Dr. Alwyn V. D’Sa sir has always been our friend than a teacher. He is always available for all our queries and doubts. I am always indebted to sir,” he expressed.

Manish N. Bhat shared, “Alwyn sir would come to parade ground and videograph us. We being students were scared as he was an higher authority. One day we asked sir about the same. And so he replied to us that it gives him pride to see his college students being energetic and putting on efforts even in the afternoon. Post this incident my respect for sir has increased.”

Anusha J. too stated to be the witness of parade ground videography and expressed, “I have not met any teachers who is so friendly like Alwyn sir.”

Ananya K stated, “Hailing from rural area coming to Mangaluru College was cultural shock to me. Alwyn Sir’s mode of engaging students attracted me towards his teachings.”

“You get what you think. And so when I enter my classroom I enter with the thought “My fans are waiting for me” and so teaching becomes a very good learning experience,” expressed Dr. Alwyn D’Sa.

Expressing the role of teachers in inspiring the future of students, the guests shared, “Education is an exchange of knowledge and so a teacher plays a significant role in the personality development of the student in this process.”

“The life of thousands of students will be in the hands of a teacher. You can make it or you can break it,” said Dr. Alywn D’Sa.

Promoting the idea of both teachers and students being the equal partners in the business of learning, said Dr. Alwyn D’Sa and students expressed gratitude to NewsKarnataka.
