Sabudana khichdi: A wholesome food, especially while fasting

Indian fasting is incomplete without a dish made of Sabudana, especially in North Karnataka. Whether it is the savoury khichdi or the sweet kheer, dishes made of this ingredient can make your fasting healthier and tastier.

Sabudana khichdi is one of the most popular fasting dish that is made with sabudana pearls, roasted peanuts and a few spices. It is usually made during Hindu fasting days like Mahashivaratri or Ekadashi.

Sabudana also known as sago or tapioca pearls are made from the roots of the cassava plant. It is loaded with carbohydrates and the proteins coming only from peanuts. Sabudana is rich in carbs and hence this dish makes for a filling snack.
