In an exclusive interview with NewsKarnataka, the Co-founder and CEO of Stargate Club, Kunal Abhishek expressed about Stargate Club’s journey so far. Stargate Club is driven by the trends loved by the Gen-Z and millennials, making a community, driven by social media influencers and the latest fashion trends. Speaking on the dynamics, he explained that research has consistently suggested local influencers or micro-influencers are more accessible for the people to whom they can reach for advice; most of the fashion purchase decisions are made by these influencers’ recommendations. “Considering the value of local influencers, Stargate Club is creating a community of these influencers to create their micro-stores on the platform, recommend our products to their circle of friends or network, and eventually also benefit from these recommendations,” the Co-founder added.

With the increasing number of trends followed mainly by the vast young population around the globe, it is not surprising that the race for fashion curators and designers is primarily determined by the Millennials and Gen-Z fashion ideas and who caters to those ideas the first. However, the Co-founder of Stargate Club provided valuable insight, “the late Millennials and Gen-Z are experiencing a trend lag in fashion because of repetitive styles and limited catalogue selection in the current fashion landscape in the country. We wanted to fill this gap and reduce the time the trends reach these consumers.”

Stargate Club’s January collection is a curation of comfort styles like slogan T-shirts and oversized topwear, trending globally. This collection quickly transitioned from occasion wear after their New Year Edit. Kunal mentioned that their sweater collection was extremely popular from the December collection; hence they have retained some of the bestsellers in the current collection, January being transition weather. The January collection is unique in surface patterns, with fleece hoodies and colour-blocked sweaters instead of the regular greys and blacks. This sits well since people usually look for more colours to add to their winter wardrobe. “We also added a range of oversized sweaters in the new collection since oversized silhouettes are rarely available on other problems despite being highly preferred by Millennials and Gen-Zs,” he said.
With a primary target of 18 to 30 years old female customers, Stargate has also established kidswear called ‘Sugar Rush,’ which offers trendy party wear rather than core kids products. It is thus in line with their women’s wear philosophy. “Currently, we have tie-ups with factories in South East Asia. We are looking to extend it to major factories or brands in Europe this year,” the Co-founder, Kunal Abhishek, signed off.
