Moodabidri: The Union Public Service Commission’s Civil Service examination results for 2016 is out and the coastal belt has one big reason to celebrate.

Cracking this hard nut called the UPSC exams, 26-year-old Mishal Queeni D’Costa’s happiness knows no limits.

Hailing from in Moodabidri she has bagged 387th rank in the country, an accomplishment worth several rounds of applauds.

Mishal, speaking to Newskarnataka.com says that hardwork, training and consistency can help anyone crack the UPSC examinations.

“I dedicate this rank and my service opportunity that the rank brings to me for the sake of the society,” says Mishal.

She feels that the students of the coastal belt still do not have the inclination towards writing the UPSC examination. Parents, society, educational institutions, NGO, she says must take steps to encourage young students to prepare for the examinations and crack it too.

“From childhood, I had seen my father bother about electricity and water problem. I had often wondered why our situation was like this,” she recalls adding that she wants to ensure that nobody lives life devoid of basic facilities.

Mishal is of the opinion that she can surely make a difference in the lives of many through her education and opportunity.

She says that her father was the one who first sow the seed of writing the civil service examination in her.

Mishal is the second daughter of former Taluk Panchayat member Lazarus D’Costa and Nancy D’Costa. She has one sister and a brother.

She completed her early schooling at St Francis Higher Primary School, Neerude and Little Flower High School, Kinnigoly.

She is also an athletic par excellence, who has bagged gold at the state and the national levels.

With 92.6 pc in PUC (Alva’s College), she got her Engineering degree (Information and Science Engineering) from RVCE College, Bengaluru.

With coaching for the UPSC from Vajiram and Ravi, Anargha IAD Academy in New Delhi, Mishal could achieve what he aimed for.

At RV College of Engineering, bright students like Mishal had got a campus placement in a private company that offered a plump salary package. But, Mishal had decided a different course for her life. She turned down the offer and headed to Delhi for coaching for the UPSC examination.

Her father, talking about Mishal, says that she is someone who will never shy away from doing any job.

“From taking care of the cattle to plucking pepper corns in the plantations, Mishal is someone who has always given her cent per cent into whatever she did. This reflects her honesty to work,” he says adding that she is someone who will never take the corrupt way to get her work done.

In 2011, Mishal had passed the Karnataka Public Service Commission Examination and had joined as the Assistant Commissioner, Commercial Tax Department. But, with the scam being unearthed in the KPSC, the posting of all the candidates was withheld.

Lazarus D’ Costa, who was brimming with happiness said that it was a true blessing of God that Mishal could make it to this level. He specifically thanks all his friends who had repotedly performed special prayers to Lord Ganapathy and Moodabidri Sri Hanuman temple praying for Mishal’s results.

Moodabdiri Alva’s Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva has congratulated Mishal on her achievement and has hoped that more and more students get inspired by her.
