The Indian education system had a solid foundation of guru-disciple tradition. Given the shortcomings of modern schooling, it is not surprising that the old gurukula system was abandoned as then the purpose of education was only to teach. But with the passage of time, the education system had to be changed for the society to be changed. This change is inevitable. “Education is a factor that enhances equality, economic and social mobility, inclusiveness, and is an excellent tool for achieving equality.”
