The NSS volunteers of Swastika National School have taken up the challenge of promoting the idea of ‘Swacha Mangaluru’ to help keep the city clean. In this regard, they performed the first of their street plays near Urva Bus Stand on February 15.
The chairman of Swastika national Charitable trust, Dr Raghavendra Holla, spoke on the importance of instilling in the students a sense of responsibility towards the society. “The main focus of the play is on keeping the city clean and explaining to the citizens their various responsibilities as a member of the society,” he expressed.
Around 20 students participated in the street play which was well received by the audience. These students were given a 10-day training session under the guidance of Drama artist, Vinod Shetty.
“Vinod sir trained us very well and I believe that we were able to perform to the best of our abilities and pass on our message to the audience,” recalls Shrivathsa Somayaji, BBA first year student who partook in the play.
More than 100 people actively watched and listened to the street play conducted by the students. “The students are very happy and confident enough to perform many more plays like this in the Mangaluru city,” opined Dr Raghavendra.
“We were glad that the audience was enjoying and listening very well to our theme and we are now excited to bring much more for people to see,” said Shrivathsa.
Swastika National School believes in providing education that help the students in being successful while working in the industries. They impart in their students the knowledge skills required to be better citizens for the country. Their main aim is to develop and equip the students in the best way possible.
