The New Zealand Cricket Board released the current World No.1 ODI bowler star Kiwi player Trent Boult from their central contract. The decision came after the cricketer requested a break from international cricket to spend time with his family.

The 33-year-old has not announced retirement and this certainly is not an end of the glittering career of Kiwi bowler. He currently wants a break from International cricket tours and will be available to play in domestic leagues.

Trent Boult has been the key bowler of Black Caps across formats for over 12 years now, he played 78 test matches and more than 130 white ball games with 548 wickets. He was their star performer in multiple Cricket World Cup events.

He said, “This has been a really tough decision for me and I’d like to thank NZC for their support in getting to this point.”

“Playing cricket for my country was a childhood dream and I’m so proud of everything I’ve been able to achieve with the Black Caps over the past 12 years.”

“Ultimately this decision is about my wife Gert and our three young boys. Family has always been the biggest motivator for me and I feel comfortable with putting it first and preparing ourselves for life after cricket.”
