Facebook is a type of social media platform which is used worldwide. In today’s times Facebook challenges have taken over most of the feeds with its unique concepts.

Amid the Covid-induced lockdown, facebook Challenges help individuals become more assertive and outspoken about certain things. Similarly, an environment-friendly challenge ‘Hasiru Nannusiru’ has been initiated by the Department of Botany of Nehru Memorial Degree College, Sullia.

Speaking to News Karnataka Narendra Rai Derla one of the participants of ‘Hasiru Nannusiru’ green challenge said, “This is called ‘Hasiru Abhiyan’, where a person after planting a sapling of his choice has to post an image with it on Facebook and then challenge five other people to do this. The other five are expected to do the same and the challenge continues.

“It was started during Covid-induced lockdown when people were restricted to their homes. And who doesn’t love to tack up challenges? And when the challenges are the easiest to perform and are beneficial for the environment then it is a must,” he added.

“I am very happy to be a part of the green chain and have planted a unique sapling in my garden called Arasubay. Further, I challenged poetess, environmentalist L. C. Sumitra, columnist Deepa Hiregutti, Environmentalist Shivanand Kalave, Reporter-agriculturist Anand Teertha Pyati, and Poet Chetan Someshwar,” he informed.

He emphasised that such environment-friendly challenges on Facebook and other social media platforms will hopefully create more consciousness among youth to go green in a trendy way.
