Is it just these voices I hear?
Or is there yet one more?
One that I hear for the first time,
One that comes from a wide-open door.
Should I pay heed?
Should I give it a try?
Will my hand be held this time?
Can I openly cry?
“Why not?” said the inner voice
“Stop for a minute long.
What is the harm in trying?
What could possibly go wrong?”
I follow, I search, I reach for the voice
The one that stopped me from saying goodbye
For if it can show me just one reason
To live, rather than to miserably die
“I’m here!” said the familiar voice
The one I’d heard before
“I’ll guide you to the other side,
To move, from stormy seas, ashore”
I reach toward the arm stretched out,
And feel a grip so bold.
A second shot at all of life’s joys,
To see it so beautifully unfold!
