With less than an ear to go before Trump Trumps Biden to the World’s most famous geriatric care facility, a failed assassination attempt, with America’s most famous arms export and Mass Shootings rifle, the AR-15, has stirred a nation that is used to hearing about mass shootings. The voting percentage is likely to go up as a result.
Was it the case of one victim, not the many they are used to, that created this sense of angst? Either way, Biden cannot bide his time to a second term any longer, given that Trump has his ear to the groundswell of support for him in the aftermath of the failed shooting. I truly like the way the media in the US discriminated between shootings – calling one an assassination and most others a shooting. Clearly, not all citizens are equal in the land that prescribes democracy to others! Some are a shot above!
Media reports say Biden had a “short but good conversation” with Trump after the shooting, sorry assassination attempt. I’m not sure if Trump could hear what Biden said, given what had happened immediately before, and whether Biden had a good conversation at all because a good conversation would entail knowing who you are speaking with! But the fact that it was short, and not short-tempered, given the failure of security was good perhaps. Both will now vie for a shot at the White House without painting it red, hopefully!
Media and politicians are often equally confused about which of them constitutes the 4th Pillar of Democracy, perhaps because they both work in tandem, as observed in the decoding of the Indian effect of an American assassination attempt. So much so that they both believed: 1. It could be a global plot that would soon come to India, and 2. That it would win Trump the election. And maybe it will. That’s Right! It’s a familiar scene here! No conspiracy involved!
What is interesting about the upcoming American election is that there is now an Indian connection in both camps. Just what the Media in India wanted – the Indian obtuse angle in an election that is being closely perused in India now that the Indian Representative in 10 Downing Street, is on downtime for re-configuration of his server! A conflict of interest if ever there was one!
That he survived the left hook, itself is remarkable! Indeed, in France too, the Left left the Right behind. Looks like the people want rights, not the right. That may be true of India too given the results of the last Lok Sabha Elections. But it’s not everywhere. The Right reads the rights, but the Left engages for them. But what is left of what’s right in Politics? If you notice, the compass wavers from Right to Left and left to right, trying to hang in there. As for us let’s all hang in there and maybe we can enjoy what’s left of our rights!
