On Guinness World Records Day, a remarkable meeting took place in London between Rumeysa Gelgi, the world’s tallest living woman, and Jyoti Amge, the world’s shortest living woman. The two record holders gathered at the prestigious Savoy Hotel to celebrate their unique achievements, despite the striking 152.36 cm (5 feet) height difference between them.

Gelgi, a web designer from Turkey, stands at 215.16 cm (7 feet 0.7 inches), a height attributed to Weaver syndrome, a rare genetic condition. She holds several records, including the largest hands on a woman, the longest back on a female, and the longest ears on a person. Gelgi has also been featured in a documentary, “Rumeysa: Walking Tall.”

Amge, from India, measures just 62.8 cm (2 feet 0.7 inches) due to achondroplasia, a bone growth disorder. She has appeared in “American Horror Story: Freak Show” and is known as the shortest actress ever, making her a social media sensation. Despite her small stature, Amge’s personality has a large impact in the entertainment world.

During their meeting, the two women found common ground, bonding over their shared love for makeup, self-care, jewelry, and nails. Gelgi humorously mentioned that their height difference made eye contact a bit tricky, but it was a wonderful experience for both.

Guinness World Records editor-in-chief, Craig Glenday, emphasized that their meeting highlights the celebration of differences, noting that their stories inspire and offer valuable perspectives on life. Both Gelgi and Amge have been named GWR Icons in the 2025 edition of the record book.
