Young Delhi Capitals batter Abhishek Porel is making the most of his time under captain Axar Patel and expressed gratitude to senior player KL Rahul for his encouragement after a missed catch in their IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Despite dropping a catch off Aniket Verma, Porel bounced back with a crucial unbeaten 34 off 18 balls, helping his team chase down the target. He credited Rahul for lifting his spirits, saying, “KL Bhai is like a big brother. He told me ‘no worries’ and encouraged me to play my natural shots.”

Having played alongside Axar Patel for two seasons, Porel appreciates his leadership style. “Off the field, he’s very funny. On the field, he’s highly motivated. I really enjoy playing under his captaincy,” he said.

Rahul, returning after a one-game paternity break, provided Porel with key insights into the pitch conditions. “He knew how the pitch was behaving and really backed me,” Porel shared.

Porel also praised the Visakhapatnam track, which has hosted Delhi Capitals’ home matches in previous seasons, calling it a great surface to play on.

With confidence growing under Patel’s captaincy and support from seasoned teammates, Porel and Delhi Capitals aim to maintain their winning momentum in IPL 2025.
