Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has lauded Tilak Varma for his impressive match-winning performance in the second T20I against England in Chennai, where he scored an unbeaten 72 off 55 balls. This knock led India to a two-wicket victory as they chased down 166, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

The 22-year-old Tilak showcased his adaptability, shifting gears as wickets fell around him and anchoring the innings with maturity. In the final overs, he formed key partnerships with Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi, steering India to victory with four balls to spare. His knock, which included four boundaries and five sixes, earned him the Player of the Match award.

Rayudu, speaking on Star Sports, expressed his admiration for Tilak’s maturity and his potential to be an all-format player. He emphasized that Tilak’s performance in the second T20I proves he can be a match-winner for India in all formats. “I feel India has got a huge superstar, and he can become an all-format player,” Rayudu said, encouraging consistent backing for Tilak.

Rayudu also highlighted the impact of captain Suryakumar Yadav in boosting Tilak’s confidence, noting that the trust shown by the captain has allowed the young cricketer to repay it with outstanding performances.
