Beena Shetty from M’luru to represent India in Badminton World Federation’s World Senior Championship

Mangaluru: “It was always a dream of mine to be able to represent India in Badminton competition and I was able to do that after retirement,” says Beena Shetty.

Beena won two gold in women’s doubles and mixed doubles in the 60+ age category at the selection tournament held at Goa for the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) World Senior Championship conducted by the Badminton association of India at Goa.

She retired as a Prof. of Biochemistry from KMC, Mangaluru in 2018. “Due to the pandemic, there was no tournaments being held for the past two years,” stated Beena who has been playing the sport for the past 30 years.

The BWF tournament will take place in Spain towards the end of November 2021.
