Cricket clash to choke Bengaluru roads as RCB takes on RR at Chinnaswamy
Bengaluru is bracing for intense traffic on Thursday evening as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) face off against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a much-awaited IPL 2025 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Central Business District (CBD) is expected to witness major congestion, with thousands of fans flocking to the heart of the city.
Although no official traffic advisory has been released yet, police anticipate significant vehicular and pedestrian activity both before and after the game. Motorists are likely to experience long delays on major roads including MG Road, Queen’s Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Kasturba Road, Cubbon Road, St Marks Road, and Vittal Mallya Road, among others.
To manage the anticipated rush, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has extended metro timings. The final trains from all four terminal stations—Whitefield (Kadugodi), Challaghatta, Silk Institute, and Madavara—will now depart at 12:30 am. Additionally, the last service from the central Majestic station will run at 1:15 am.
BMTC buses and Namma Metro, particularly around Cubbon Park Metro Station (the closest to the stadium), are expected to be crowded post-match.
Authorities are urging residents to opt for public transport instead of private vehicles to minimize road chaos. With cricket fever high and city roads packed, Bengaluru prepares for an evening of sport and snarls.
