The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled India’s squad for the upcoming tour of South Africa, revealing key exclusions for the T20Is and ODIs. In a notable decision, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will not participate in the three-match T20I series, opting to focus solely on the Test matches. Similarly, former captain Virat Kohli will sit out both the ODIs and T20Is, joining Rohit Sharma for the Test series.
The South Africa tour comes on the heels of the ongoing T20I series against Australia, and India is set to engage in three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches against South Africa.
Rohit Sharma, whose T20I future was under speculation after not featuring since the 2022 T20 World Cup, has chosen to skip the three T20Is and will only join the team for the Test matches. Alongside him, Virat Kohli, another veteran batter and former skipper, will also be available solely for the two Test matches.
