While we would put our money on Rahul being the competition’s top scorer, we would definitely not be too surprised to see Padikkal not too far behind him. He is a top-quality player and will only go on to get better and better.
Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna, it must be said, had a pretty average 2021 Indian Premier League, picking up 12 wickets in the 10 matches that he played. However, despite this, he still attracted plenty of attention at the 2022 IPL auction due to the fact that everyone knows that he is a quality bowler will lots of potential. He was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders and bought by the Rajasthan Royals for a fee of INR 10 crores.
The Rajasthan Royals have one of the most explosive batting line-ups in the whole tournament and, when they manage to get a big score on the board, they will definitely be looking to Krishna to help bowl them to victory alongside the likes of Trent Boult and Ravi Ashwin. We are pretty confident that he will have a much more successful IPL this time around than he did in 2021.
Robin Uthappa
Okay, we know that Robin Uthappa no longer plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket, but he did so for 14 years, so we thought it would be rude to cast him aside like he never existed. He was a loyal servant to Karnataka and any true Karnataka fan will remember him fondly, while many will still wish that he did not move to Kerala.
It is safe to say that Uthappa is no stranger to the Indian Premier League, having played for the Mumbai Indians, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Pune Warriors, the Kolkata Knight Riders, and the Rajasthan Royals. In the 2022 edition of this IPL, the talented wicket-keeper batsman will be playing for the Chennai Super Kings after they bought him for INR 2 crores at the auction after having released him before the auction started after having decided to retain MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ravi Jadeja.
Overall, he has played in 193 matches (186 innings) in the IPL and has scored 4722 runs at a strike rate of 130.20 and an average of 27.90. Now, because of his age and the talent that the CSK have in their squad, it is unlikely that he will get a lot of playing time, but when/if he gets his chance, he is going to have to take it with both hands, and we would back him to do exactly that.
