Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu): Renowned Indian cricketer and captain of the Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Ravichandran Ashwin, recently savored the famous Irrutukadai Alva in Tirunelveli.
The first phase of the TNPL 2024 cricket series took place in Salem, Tamil Nadu, from July 5th to 11th. Following that, the second phase concluded in Coimbatore, and the third phase is set to be held in Tirunelveli. Players from all participating teams, including Dindigul, Salem, Coimbatore, and Trichy, have arrived in Tirunelveli for this tournament.
Ashwin, who has claimed 516 Test wickets, arrived in Tirunelveli yesterday. He visited the renowned Irrutukadai Alva shop in Nellai Town during the evening. Enthralled by the taste, Ashwin not only enjoyed the Alva himself but also bought some for his teammates.
The news of Ashwin’s visit quickly spread, attracting a large crowd to the shop. Fans eagerly gathered to catch a glimpse of the legendary off-spinner and take selfies with him.
Impressed by the delicacy, Ashwin asked the shop owner, “How is Tirunelveli Alva so tasty?” The world-famous Irrutukadai Alva is available daily only in the evening in Tirunelveli town. The shop opens precisely at 5 PM, with hundreds of people usually lining up from 3 PM to get their share.
This visit highlights Ashwin’s love for local delicacies and his down-to-earth interaction with fans, further endearing him to the public.
