New Delhi: Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria has made headlines once again, this time by appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for assistance in overturning the lifetime ban imposed on him by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2012 for his involvement in spot-fixing.
In an interview with Aajtak, Kaneria stated, “I would like to appeal to Prime Minister Modi and the BCCI to help me remove the ban that was imposed on me by the ECB.”
This appeal comes on the heels of controversy sparked by Kaneria’s participation in Navaratri celebrations, where he was seen performing Garba, a traditional dance, during the festive season. The social media posts of his Garba performance received mixed reactions, with some fans and experts criticizing him.
Regarding the current state of the Pakistan Cricket team, they have participated in five matches in the ongoing tournament, securing two wins and facing three defeats. In their most recent match against Afghanistan, Pakistan suffered an eight-wicket loss, adding to the challenges faced by the team in the competition.
