St. Philomena PU College, Puttur, in collaboration with the PU Educational Board of Dakshina Kannada, hosted the District Level Swimming Championship at Dr. Shivrama Karanth Balavana Swimming Pool on August 2.

The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by esteemed dignitaries. Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas, president and correspondent of Mai De Deus Educational Institutions, highlighted the significance of making the most of such opportunities to shape one’s personality. He urged students to aim to fulfill their parents’ dreams and advised the swimmers to prioritize their own enjoyment over concerns about the competition results.

Dr. Shriprakash B, vice president of the PTA, was the guest of honor and delivered a motivating address to the participants. He expressed his hope that the journey, which started at Balavana’s pool, would pave the way for future international success.

The event was also attended by Prathima Hegde, president of the alumni association, and Gerald D’Costa, vice-president of Puttur parish. The physical education directors of St. Philomena PU College, Elias Pinto and Rajesh Mooliya, were responsible for organizing the competition.

Fr. Ashok Rayan Crasta, principal of St. Philomena PU College, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. Dr. Asha Savithri P from the Department of Hindi compered the event and proposed the vote of thanks.
