Kolkata: Finn Allen delivered a breathtaking performance at Eden Gardens, smashing a 35-ball 93 to power Kolkata Knight Riders to a massive total against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026, while also etching his name into the record books.

Allen achieves unique six-hitting milestone

The explosive opener became the first player in IPL history to hit 10 sixes in an innings twice in a single season. His latest knock featured 10 towering sixes and four boundaries, with a staggering 86 of his 93 runs coming via boundaries.

Allen’s six-hitting spree has now taken his tally to 27 maximums in IPL 2026 after just nine matches — the highest ever by a KKR player in a debut season, surpassing Phil Salt’s previous record of 24 in 2024.

Closing in on all-time record

The New Zealand batter is now just five sixes away from breaking the all-time IPL record for most sixes in a debut season, currently held by Sanath Jayasuriya, who struck 31 maximums for Mumbai Indians in the inaugural 2008 season.

With matches still remaining, Allen is well on track to surpass the long-standing record.

GT’s fielding woes prove costly

Allen’s innings was aided by multiple reprieves, as GT dropped him twice — on 14 and 33 — allowing him to unleash a devastating assault.

Jason Holder nearly dismissed him early, while Mohammed Siraj dropped a crucial chance at long-on. These lapses proved expensive as Allen shifted gears and dominated both pace and spin with ease.

He raced to a 21-ball half-century and took apart bowlers like Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan with fearless strokeplay.

Strong support from Raghuvanshi and Green

While Allen set the tone, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green ensured there was no slowdown.

Raghuvanshi remained unbeaten on 82, while Green added a quickfire 52*, with the duo stitching together a 108-run partnership off just 53 balls for the third wicket.

Their combined effort propelled KKR to a formidable 247/2 — their highest total of the season.

A defining knock in KKR’s campaign

Allen looked set for a second century of the season before being dismissed, but his innings had already inflicted significant damage. His ability to capitalise on chances and dominate bowling attacks has emerged as a key factor in KKR’s late surge in the tournament.

As the playoffs race intensifies, Allen’s form could prove decisive — and with history within reach, the Kiwi opener remains one of the most dangerous batters in IPL 2026.
