Bambolim, Goa: ISL 2021-22: A lot has been spoken about the rivalry between the two teams, and one would have expected a goal fest from Bengaluru FC’s third match of their campaign, against so-called arch-rivals Kerala Blasters FC.
However, the entire course of the match until the dying minutes ended up a drab affair with none of the teams having anything worthwhile to show.
Kerala however had a tense moment when a goalward shot was hit with full force, but Albino Gomes managed to make a point-blank save, thus giving Kerala some hope. However, in the very next minute, Bengaluru FC’s Ashique managed to show some deft footwork and took a shot on goal. Albino Gomes who was still dazed with the point-blank save managed to mess up a pretty simple save, thus conceding a goal.
However, BFC’s joy was short-lived, and Ashique’s role in this match was far from over. At the defending end, Ashique managed to make a mess of a clearance himself, thus scoring his own goal, bringing Kerala Blasters back into the reckoning.
5 minutes of extra time was added on. But both teams did not manage to break the deadlock, thus registering Bengaluru FC’s first draw of the season.
Former BFC player Harmanjot Khabra had a Yellow Card and a Man of the Match Award to show at the end of the match for his performance.
Final Score: Bengaluru FC 1 – 1 Kerala Blasters FC
Goals:
84 – Ashique
88 – Ashique (OG) – KBFC
