The current season of India’s elite football championship began at the end of September 2023 and will end in the first half of April 2024. After this, the first two teams will make it to the semi-finals of the playoffs, and the clubs in third to sixth places will play in the quarter-finals. There is no provision for downgrading in this tournament.

The four main contenders for the Indian Super League title are: Odisha, Goa, Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City. If you want to predict with greater accuracy which team will win the championship title, then we recommend studying each of the clubs.

Odisha

Sergio Lobera’s team is performing well this season and after 15 rounds the team was leading the standings. With two matches more, Odisha edged second Goa by three points. With nine wins and four draws, Arminders Singh and partners suffered two defeats against Kerala Blasters and the Gaurs away. It should also be noted that the club from the city of Bhubaneswar had one of the best attacks in the championship, scoring an average of almost two goals per match.

The composition of the Odisha football club is not very formidable, but in terms of team play, the Bhubaneswar representatives look good. The “black and purple” will most likely play in the playoffs, but finishing in the top two in the regular season will be extremely difficult.

Goa

Manuel Marquez’s guys didn’t make it to the playoffs last season and will now try to rehabilitate themselves in front of their home fans. In the current Indian Premier League, after 13 rounds, Goa was in second place in the standings. The Gaurs were three points behind the leader, but had two more matches played, while the third Mohun Bagan and the fourth Kerala Blasters were two points ahead. Having won eight games and completed the world title four times, Akshay Tandon’s brainchild lost only to the Kolkata Mariners.

By mid-February, the “bulls” had suffered the fewest defeats in the championship and the team looked very confident in terms of play. If Goa doesn’t slow down and continues in the same vein, then the Orange and Whites will be able to not only make it to the playoffs, but also try to take a shot at the title.

Mohun Bagan

Antonio Lopez Abass’s boys are looking pretty good in the current Indian Premier League. After 13 rounds, Mohun Bagan was two points behind second Goa, and ahead of third Kelara Blasters by additional indicators. At the same time, the “sailors” had two fewer matches played than the “elephants”. Having won eight battles and drawn twice, Joni Kauko and his partners suffered three defeats.

Mohun Bagan have lost to Mumbai City, Goa and Kerala Blasters in the current season. At the same time, there was only one crushing defeat. The Sailors have several strong performers who managed to play in Europe and can significantly help the team. Mumbai City

Petr Kratka’s team won the regular championship in the last edition of the Indian Super League and reached the final in the playoffs. Mumbai City is looking very competitive this year too. After 13 matches played, Rahul Bheke and company won seven, won the world title four times and lost twice to Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur. The Sky Blues’ attack is quite good and their defense is very reliable.

The Sky Blues’ chances of reaching the playoffs are quite good. So the team will most likely enter the relegation battles. At the same time, it will be extremely difficult for Mumbai City to reach the final in the playoffs.

Our forecast

Odisha and Mumbai City are likely to fail to even reach the final and will be eliminated in the earlier stages of the playoffs. The main contenders for the championship will most likely be Goa and Mohun Bagan. The “sailors” have a more competitive squad and a better attack than their competitor, so preference in the fight for gold medals should be given to the representatives of Kolkata.
