India reaffirmed their supremacy in junior cricket by clinching a record-extending sixth ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup title, defeating England by a commanding 100 runs in the final at Harare Sports Club on Friday.

Winning the toss and opting to bat, India Under-19 produced one of the most dominant batting performances ever seen in an Under-19 World Cup final.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivers a final for the ages

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the undisputed star of the night, blasting a breathtaking 175 off just 80 balls. His fearless strokeplay dismantled England’s bowling attack and set the tone for a record total. Ayush Mhatre provided perfect support with a composed 53 off 51 balls, ensuring India never lost momentum.

India eventually finished on a massive 411 for nine in 50 overs, placing enormous pressure on England even before the chase began.

England’s promising start fades

Chasing the daunting target, England Under-19 began brightly with opener Ben Dawkins scoring a fluent half-century. Thomas Rew and Ben Mayes added quick runs, but the required rate soon proved overwhelming.

A dramatic middle-order collapse saw England slide from 174 for three to 177 for seven, effectively sealing their fate.

Falconer fights, India dominate

Caleb Falconer stood tall amid the collapse, scoring a valiant 115 off 67 balls. However, with little support from the other end, England were bowled out for 311 in the 41st over.

Suryavanshi was named Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament, finishing with 439 runs at a staggering strike rate of 169 — becoming the sixth Indian to claim the honour after legends like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill.

A legacy strengthened

This emphatic victory further cements India’s status as the most successful nation in Under-19 World Cup history and highlights the depth of talent ready to step into the senior ranks.
