In a remarkable display of skill and determination, 13-year-old Hadrian Vegas from Mangaluru set a new world record by performing 26 underwater somersaults in just 37 seconds at the Emmekere International Swimming Pool. The achievement was officially recognized by Dr. Krishnamurti, State Director of Nobel World Records.
Hadrian, a Class 8 student at Carmel CBSE School, accomplished this feat under the guidance of his coach, Aromal A.S., who expressed immense pride in his student’s performance. “Typically, somersaults are executed while holding the edge of the pool, but Hadrian managed to perform 26 consecutive flips in the middle of the pool, which is an extraordinary accomplishment,” said Aromal.
Hadrian’s potential was first noticed during a summer vacation, which led to specialized training sessions at the Prestige International School’s pool, later continuing at Emmekere. His father, Anil Vegas, a civil contractor, attributed his son’s success to the careful observation and expert training provided by Aromal.
The record-breaking event was attended by several prominent figures, including Arun Prabha, GM of Mangaluru Smart City Limited, Praveen D’Souza from the Sports Department, and representatives from Prestige International School and Carmel CBSE School. Their presence added to the significance of the occasion.
Hadrian, who has now etched his name in the record books, is setting his sights on achieving a Guinness World Record in the future, aiming to take his passion for swimming to even greater heights.
