Manu Bhaker, the young Indian shooting sensation, has set her sights firmly on achieving gold at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. Following a successful campaign at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she secured two bronze medals in the 10m air pistol individual and mixed team events, Manu expressed her ambition to change the colour of her medal in the upcoming games.

In an exclusive interview with the Times of India, the 22-year-old athlete shared her thoughts on being dubbed the ‘golden girl’ of shooting. She described the title as both humbling and motivating, serving as a source of inspiration as she trains intensively for her next Olympic appearance. “My sights are set on hitting the bullseye at the Los Angeles Olympics,” Manu stated. “Each stage of my training is aimed at refining my precision and focus, all with the goal of securing that gold medal.”

Her commitment to the sport is evident, with every training session designed to enhance her skills. “While I focus on the journey and the hard work, the dream of standing on the podium and representing India keeps me inspired and driven,” she added.

Manu also emphasised that her journey to Olympic success has been a collective effort. She credited her coach, Jaspal Rana, for his unwavering support and encouragement throughout her training. “The journey to the Olympics was a team effort, and I couldn’t have succeeded without my coach, my family, and my teammates,” she remarked.

Rana’s guidance has been pivotal, particularly during challenging moments, while her family’s belief in her capabilities has kept her grounded. Manu acknowledged the vital role her teammates played, providing essential support that made her journey feel less solitary. “Their collective presence and support were essential, reminding me that every achievement is the result of many hands working together,” she explained.

Currently, Manu is taking a break from competitive shooting, which means she will miss the upcoming ISSF World Cup. This pause will allow her to recharge and refocus her efforts as she prepares for the next stages of her training.

As Manu Bhaker looks towards the future, her determination to secure gold at the Los Angeles Olympics is palpable. With a strong support system and a clear vision, she is poised to make her mark on the world stage once again. Her journey highlights the importance of teamwork and perseverance in achieving one’s dreams, inspiring young athletes across the country.
