The IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was suspended midway due to a blackout at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, coinciding with escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. Earlier, rain showers had already delayed the toss, and persistent weather disruptions were visible even during singer B Praak’s tribute performance for the Indian Armed Forces.
Weather forecasts had predicted overcast skies, drizzles, and gusty winds—conditions that played out as anticipated. As the match progressed into its early stages, a complete power outage forced a halt to play, casting uncertainty over the remainder of the game.
The incident occurred amid growing regional instability following India’s Operation Sindoor, prompting heightened security and logistical disruptions across the country. As a result, PBKS’ final home fixture, originally scheduled to be held in Dharamshala against Mumbai Indians, has now been relocated to Ahmedabad.
In terms of standings, PBKS sit third with 15 points, entering this game with back-to-back wins, including a home victory over Lucknow Super Giants. DC, meanwhile, are in fifth place with 13 points, hoping for a strong finish after a rain-abandoned match in Hyderabad.
Historically, DC lead the head-to-head since IPL 2021 by 5–2, while both teams have won two games each at the Dharamshala venue. In the pre-match pitch report, Matthew Hayden and Murali Kartik observed a dry surface with variable boundaries, expecting a run-rich contest—a forecast now overshadowed by the day’s political and climatic turbulence.
