India’s second-most-watched sporting event, the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), is gearing up for its highly anticipated 2025 player auction. The two-day auction extravaganza will take place in Mumbai on May 31 and June 1, where over 500 players will be up for selection to fill 217 spots across 12 competing franchises.

Speaking ahead of the event, PKL Commissioner Anupam Goswami shared his excitement in an interview with Business Standard, highlighting the league’s remarkable journey and what lies ahead in Season 12.
He noted that crossing into the twelfth season marks a significant milestone for the sport. “It reflects the league’s stability, popularity, and its evolution as a global standard for emerging sports,” said Goswami. The PKL auction is not just a team-building event — it’s where new talent emerges, and seasoned champions are pursued.
This year’s auction is expected to feature a vibrant mix of fresh prospects from state-level kabaddi federations and the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, alongside well-known players from past seasons. With high stakes and competitive team strategies, the bidding battles are expected to be intense.
Additionally, fans can look forward to the possible return of the home-and-away format, adding another layer of excitement to the upcoming season.
