Puttur Swimmers Gifted Mulberry Saplings in Eco-Friendly Initiative

Puttur Swimmers Gifted Mulberry Saplings In Eco Friendly Initiative

Mangaluru: In a heartwarming eco-friendly initiative, around 40 swimmers at the Dr. Shivarama Karantha Balavana swimming pool in Puttur were gifted mulberry saplings to plant at their homes on Friday. This thoughtful gesture was made possible by Prathima Hegde, a member of the swimming pool committee, who provided the saplings from her own garden. The saplings were creatively packed in reused eco-friendly cups, highlighting the importance of sustainability and environmental consciousness.

The recipients of these saplings included not only the young swimmers but also two senior citizens who have been regular patrons of the pool for several years. Staff members and guests present at the event also received the saplings, making it a community-wide effort to promote green living.

Coach Partha Varanashi added an engaging twist to the initiative by encouraging each swimmer to take a picture of the sapling planted at their home and share it with him. This not only ensures that the saplings are cared for but also fosters a sense of responsibility and connection to the environment among the participants.

Such initiatives are vital in nurturing a sense of environmental stewardship in the community, making this event a memorable and impactful one for all involved.
