A hilarious viral video has convinced fans that Rachin Ravindra is truly Indian at heart. Social media influencer Ayushya Raj pointed out that after New Zealand’s loss to India in the Champions Trophy 2025 final, only Rachin peeked inside his runner-up award, while his teammates didn’t bother checking.

Internet reacts

Fans had a field day reacting to the clip. One joked, “He’s young and new to the finals; he doesn’t know what’s inside those awards.” Another quipped, “He dismissed Rohit Sharma so no one would doubt his loyalty!” A third user added, “He’s just making sure there’s actually a medal inside.”

Rachin’s stellar tournament

Despite the loss, Rachin was named Player of the Tournament for his incredible performance. He amassed 263 runs in four innings at an average of 68.75 and a strike rate exceeding 106, including a top score of 112 against Bangladesh. He also contributed with the ball, taking three wickets, including a crucial one of Rohit Sharma in the final, and grabbed a stunning catch to dismiss Shreyas Iyer.

His Indian roots

Born in Wellington to parents from Bengaluru, Rachin’s name is often linked to Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. However, his father clarified that the name was picked simply because it was short, easy to spell, and sounded nice.
