Results began rolling in on day three of the sixth round of the Ranji Trophy, with Jammu and Kashmir securing a thrilling win over Mumbai at the BKC Ground, where Shardul Thakur stood out despite a losing cause. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill eased nerves with a century, while Karnataka triumphed over Punjab, Haryana beat Bengal, and Gujarat completed formalities against Uttarakhand.
Rajat Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer played outstanding innings for Madhya Pradesh, setting up an exciting final day against Kerala.
As day three unfolded, attention turned to senior Indian cricket stars participating in the domestic competition. Mumbai’s top order, including Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane, failed to shine against Jammu and Kashmir. However, Shardul Thakur, out of the Indian Test squad for nearly a year, scored a resilient 113*, helping Mumbai recover with a 188-run lead. Alongside Tanush Kotian (58*), Thakur added 173* runs for the eighth wicket, giving Mumbai a solid advantage.
Rohit Sharma’s efforts fell short as he was dismissed for 28, while Yashasvi Jaiswal, struggling in the Ranji return, made just 4 and 26.
In Group D, Ravindra Jadeja spun a web to dismantle Delhi’s batting, leading Saurashtra to a comfortable 10-wicket win in just two days. Jadeja took 12 wickets in total, including a 7/38 in the second innings, while Rishabh Pant failed to make an impact.
Karnataka dominated Punjab, with Smaran Ravichandran’s remarkable 203 guiding them to a 420-run lead, while Punjab struggled at 24/2.
