Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak attended the fifth and final T20 match between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Sunak, who was accompanied by his father-in-law and Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, took the opportunity to meet with the captains of both teams, Suryakumar Yadav of India and Jos Buttler of England, before the match began.
Sunak shared his experience on social media, saying, “Tough day for England at the Wankhede, but I know our team will come back stronger. Congratulations to Team India on the win.” India secured a dominant 150-run victory in the final match, clinching the series 4-1.
Prior to the match, Sunak visited the historic Parsee Gymkhana in South Mumbai, where he played a game of tennis ball cricket. The gymkhana, founded in 1885, is known for its rich history, including connections to prominent figures like Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy and Jamsetjee Tata.
This event marks another memorable moment for Sunak, who has maintained strong ties with India, often sharing public support for the Indian cricket team.
