We have a massive month ahead of us in snooker terms. February is always reserved for players and fans to rejoice over their favorite pastime. Snooker’s popularity grows exponentially yearly as fans quickly get involved with a sport that’s easy to understand and play. You only need a few square meters of space and a snooker table to start playing. For those who do not have a proper snooker table, you should know that a regular pool or billiards table would suffice if the will to play is there.
While it’s easy to get into snooker, one thing is to play it at your local pub, and another is to try to become a snooker professional. To understand what it takes to succeed at snooker, you must watch professionals at work. Those of you who have a passion for snooker in their hearts and want to elevate your game to a higher level need to pay attention to some of the main snooker tournaments that attract the best players in the World.
When you watch Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump, or John Higgins play, it is easier to grasp the game’s mechanics, rules, and the talent level necessary to truly enter the World of professional snooker players. The moment you see how it goes and start implementing some cues of the top players into your game, you might even make a living from this sport. We’re not only talking about playing, as many people follow snooker match schedules and betting on their favorite players. With the number of tournaments growing, it is possible to make more than a few bets on snooker, and if only a few of them pass, you can earn plenty. Remember, only do this if you’re quite adept in understanding snooker odds and have money to spare. Bet responsibly! You can look at all the upcoming tournaments in the next few months.
Snooker Schedule in February & March
As we write this article, two ongoing tournaments will wrap up in the next few days, so we will not discuss these. Instead, we’re focused on what’s to come so that you can add these tournaments to your schedules, study the competitors and the odds, and make the best of the next few months in snooker. The first big matches are scheduled for 4th and 5th February, with the Champions League—Winners’ group looming ahead of us. The home venue is the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.
We all know that the best snooker is played in the UK, so in addition to Leicester matches, you will have plenty to enjoy at Barnsley, where the Welsh Open Qualifiers will be held from 4th to 6th February. If you head more south from England, you should not miss the Belgian Women’s Open in Bruges from February 7-9th. Once these are behind us, we can move on to the biggest tournament of the year so far – the Welsh Open. The home venue for this one is Llandudno, Wales, and the winner of this prestigious tournament takes home £100,000.
If you think that’s a reasonable sum, we advise you to look at what the winner gets for winning the World Open in Yushen, China, as the prize is set at £175,000. This massive snooker tournament starts on February 23rd and ends on March 1st. Suppose you’re ready to begin following snooker closely and placing a few bets here and there. In that case, February is the best month to start.
While February is a good place to start, March is undoubtedly the moment you should get serious about it. From March 4th to March 9th in Hong Kong, the World Gran Prix will give the winner £180,000. After that, we can return to England, where the Players Championship awaits us at Telford, with a prize set at £150,000. The home of snooker remains England as another £150,000 will be given to the winner of the Tour Championship in Manchester. Interestingly, this prize comes directly from one of the tournament’s betting sponsors, Sportsbet.
You want to bet even more on snooker now. We understand the urge but take things slowly. Day by day, getting the hang of this sport is not as easy as it appears. Luckily, the best way to do it is by watching and following the main tournaments, and those laid out above are the ones you should put on your schedule. Of course, that’s not all there is to snooker during this year, but you need to take it daily, match by match, tournament by tournament, and month by month.
