Mysuru: Bengaluru’s Veer Ganapathy delivered a remarkable performance with a nine-under 61, placing him in a tie for the lead after the third round of the Mysuru Open at Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club (JWGC) on Saturday. Ganapathy, alongside Bengaluru’s Shaurya Binu, who shot a six-under 64, both stand at 18-under 192 for the tournament.

Seventeen-year-old Ganapathy, who started the day in 12th place and four shots off the lead, played a flawless round, sinking five birdies from 8 to 15 feet and demonstrating superb recovery shots from the rough. His bogey-free 61 matched the lowest round of the tournament, previously achieved by Kshitij Naveed Kaul and Saptak Talwar. Ganapathy, the son of former Indian professional Rahul Ganapathy, is making his debut in a professional event and is now poised to become the youngest winner on the PGTI, a record currently held by Karandeep Kochhar.

Shaurya Binu, who won his first PGTI title earlier this year, made seven birdies and one bogey on Saturday. His impressive performance included a chip-in birdie on the fourth and a 40-footer on the seventh. Binu recovered well from a bogey on the 17th after hitting a tree with his tee shot.

Trailing the leaders by three shots are Amardeep Malik, Angad Cheema, Pukhraj Singh Gill, and Aryan Roopa Anand, all tied for third place with scores of 65, along with Aman Raj (66), Arjun Sharma (68), and Kartik Sharma (67). Mysuru-based pros Yashas Chandra and Aalaap IL are tied for 35th place at eight-under 202.
