Virat Kohli’s former Bengaluru-linked restaurant One8 Commune has been shut down following a court order over alleged non-payment of rent and pending dues reportedly exceeding ₹2 crore.

The premium restaurant, located near M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, had earlier been associated with Kohli’s lifestyle brand. However, sources said the cricketer had already ended ties with the Bengaluru outlet and withdrawn his brand name before the closure.

Court orders closure over unpaid dues

The restaurant was operated by Trio Hills Hospitality. Reports stated that rent had allegedly not been paid for nearly six months, along with pending maintenance charges and revenue share obligations.

Following the defaults, the building owner reportedly approached the city civil court, which ordered the closure of the premises until outstanding dues are cleared.

Previous notices and violations

The outlet had also faced several notices from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike over alleged regulatory issues. These reportedly included lack of mandatory clearances such as a fire safety No Objection Certificate.

Last year, a case was also registered under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act for not maintaining a designated smoking zone at the premises.

Another case reportedly involved operating beyond permitted hours, along with other establishments in the city.

Brand exit and business decline

Sources indicated that after Kohli’s exit from the Bengaluru outlet and declining footfall, the restaurant suffered losses. It will remain shut until all dues are settled, as directed by the court.

One8 Commune continues to operate in other cities including Delhi, Gurugram, Pune, Kolkata, Noida and Hyderabad
