Even the famously unflappable Mahendra Singh Dhoni isn’t immune to moments of frustration—especially when it involves homecooked biryani!

In 2014, during the Champions League T20 in Hyderabad, Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings were staying at the ITC Grand Kakatiya hotel. Ambati Rayudu, known for his Hyderabad roots, had arranged homecooked biryani for the CSK team. However, the hotel’s “no outside food” policy allegedly restricted players from consuming the biryani in their rooms or common areas.

Reports suggest Dhoni was so displeased with the restriction that the entire CSK contingent shifted from ITC Grand Kakatiya to Taj Krishna, despite having 180 rooms booked. Though CSK lost to KKR by three wickets the next day, the players reportedly relished their fill of homemade biryani without interference.

This incident offers a rare, light-hearted glimpse of Dhoni asserting himself off the field, reminding us that even “Captain Cool” has his limits—especially when it comes to something as beloved as biryani!
