Yuzvendra Chahal, the celebrated Indian cricketer, and Dhanashree Verma, a popular choreographer and social media influencer, have officially ended their marriage. The couple, who tied the knot in December 2020, had been living separately for nearly 18 months before their divorce was finalized on 20th March 2025. The Mumbai Family Court granted the divorce, marking the end of their relationship. Chahal’s lawyer, Nitin Kumar Gupta, confirmed the decree, stating, “The court has granted the divorce, and both parties are no longer husband and wife.”
Alimony Amount Revealed
Speculation around the alimony amount had been rife, with rumors suggesting sums as high as ₹60 crore. However, Dhanashree’s family dismissed these claims, clarifying, “No such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumors whatsoever.” According to reports, the actual alimony amount settled was ₹4.75 crore. Chahal has already paid ₹2.37 crore, with the remaining balance to be cleared post-divorce.
Backlash and Support on Social Media
Amidst the divorce settlement, Dhanashree’s recent Instagram post promoting her new music video sparked a wave of negative comments from social media users. Critics flooded her comment section with sarcastic and derogatory remarks. One user mockingly asked, “Mam, how much credit ho gya account mein 4.75 cr?” while another criticized her use of Chahal’s money for her career. Some even questioned her self-respect, with comments like “How can she live with his money? Doesn’t she have any self-respect left?”
However, many fans jumped to Dhanashree’s defense, urging others to stop blaming her without knowing the full story. Supporters wrote, “Stop blaming a woman when you don’t know the truth. You don’t know what she was going through. And it’s their personal life.” Another user expressed solidarity with her, stating, “Dhana, tum aage baado ham tumhare saath hai. Maybe this song is based on her relationship….”
The Couple’s Relationship Journey
Chahal and Dhanashree’s relationship began during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 when Chahal approached Dhanashree for dance lessons. Their bond quickly blossomed, leading to a whirlwind romance and their marriage in December 2020. However, by mid-2022, rumors of marital discord began circulating, eventually culminating in their separation and divorce in March 2025.
