Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing various aspects of life, including spiritual engagement. Recognizing its significance, the Commission for Social Communications and the Commission for Seminary and Religious Formation of the Udupi Diocese organized a one-day workshop titled “Media AI for Pastoral Excellence” on March 11 at Anugraha Pastoral Centre.
Embracing AI in Ministry
Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo inaugurated the event, urging clergy and pastoral workers to adopt AI for effective ministry. He stressed that staying updated with technology is crucial for evangelization and community engagement.
Interactive Sessions
The workshop featured three expert-led sessions:
🔹 Rev. Fr Anil Fernandes (Mangalore Diocese) demonstrated AI tools for evangelization, catechesis, and youth ministry, enhancing digital communication.
🔹 Leo Victor Zalki, an Oracle-certified AI professional, conducted a hands-on session on tools like Slido, Genspark, Leonardo AI, Vidu AI, ElevenLabs, and Suno, while also warning about AI risks like deepfakes and voice cloning.
🔹 A practical session on the Catholic Connect App, launched by CCBI, trained participants to digitally connect with dioceses and parishes worldwide.
A Transformative Learning Experience
The event, led by Fr Denis D’Sa and Fr Ashwin Aranha, provided clergy, youth animators, and catechism teachers with AI-driven skills to enhance their pastoral mission while promoting ethical AI use.
