When 24-year-old Rithwik Jayasimha realized that Apple’s new AirPods Pro 2 hearing aid feature was unavailable in India, he refused to accept defeat. Along with friends Arnav Bansal and Rithvik Vibhu, the tech-savvy trio crafted a solution: a “Faraday Cage” to spoof the AirPods’ location.

Using household items like aluminum foil, a microwave, and an ESP 32 chip, they blocked local Wi-Fi signals and simulated a San Francisco location, successfully enabling the feature. Their experiment not only improved their grandmothers’ hearing experience but has since helped over 30 others.

The trio’s innovation lab, Lagrange Point, focuses on solving civic issues through tech, with projects like heatwave-resistant delivery suits and Parkinson’s-friendly clothing already in progress. They now aim to tackle microplastic detection in food and water.
