Elon Musk’s social network formerly known as Twitter, now referred to as X, has made a significant alteration by updating its website URL from Twitter.com to X.com on May 17.

This shift follows a trend initiated by Musk nearly 10 months ago when he opted to rebrand the social media platform as X, a choice closely linked to his affinity for the letter ‘X’ since 1999. Musk’s acquisition of Twitter occurred through a notable $44-billion transaction in October 2022.

In an announcement on its website, the company assured users that while the URL is changing, their privacy and data protection settings will remain unchanged. Additional information regarding privacy measures can be found in the Privacy Policy: https://x.com/en/privacy.

Previously, Musk had replaced Twitter’s iconic blue bird logo, known as Larry Bird, with a fan-designed logo featuring a stylized ‘X.’

Furthermore, on July 24, Musk disclosed through a post on X that the platform intends to incorporate “comprehensive communications and the ability to conduct your entire financial world” in upcoming months. In light of this evolution, Musk stated that retaining the Twitter name no longer aligns with the platform’s expanded scope, prompting the farewell to the bird emblem.
